In Exchange for Three Diapers…

…I told Bonny Annie that I’d post something really, really nice about her on my blog.

I’m not sure why, but the other day, she ended up changing three diapers in one day for me.  Bonny Annie probably, on average, changes a diaper every other day, so this was kinda big.  By the third diaper, she was all heavy sighs and big eye rolls, and she’s made sure to tell at least five people about her fate.

Bonny Annie is a great big sister.  She helps with Cap’n Jack Henry a lot.  Just this morning, I woke up with a really bad headache, and she took over for me for about an hour and half or so, so I could take some Extra Strength Tylenol and lie back down for a while.

If I have a big chore project going on, she will play with him or put on episodes of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” which for some unexplainable reason, entertains Jack Henry.

If I need to run in the store for just a few items, I can leave the car running with the AC and go in by myself, while she holds down the fort in the car.  She only occasionally needs to karate chop Dirty Harry, and all is well.

As a matter of fact, if you have a child, especially a girl, that is about 11 years old or so, you might as well go ahead and plan on having another baby soon.  It will be the easiest child you’ve ever raised because the girl child will half raise it for you.

And Jack Henry loves her.  He loves her so much that he gives her open mouth kisses…

This is a big step for the Cap’n because just a few months ago, you may remember, when she asked for kisses, she got something else entirely.

Actually, he may be biting her…

…but we have chosen to believe it is kissing.

Because she really is a good sister (and daughter!), one that deserves to be kissed.  Not bitten.  Or slapped.

…even without the multiple diaper changes.

(Psst…how did I do, Bonny Annie?  And when you’re done reading this, I think I smell something…)

Aw, isn’t that cute. I have an almost 11 year old daughter. Maybe I should give your suggestion some serious thought. Um, no. I think I’d better not! We’d still have to pay for the child’s expenses. :-)

  2. LOL! My step-daughter was 13 when my son was born and I always said I didn’t know how people did babies without having teenagers to help with them! It was amazing!

    Your children are beautiful!

So, when did BA get engaged? I noticed the ring on the third finger of her left hand but I can’t tell how big the rock is.

Arby, it is the purity ring we gave her for her 13th birthday. No rocks…just sterling silver leaf pattern. We call it her “Leaf Me Alone” ring.

I was about 9 1/2 when my youngest brother was born. I called him my real live doll. We used to be very close, but unfortunately, I was away at college and then moved to another state for 2 years, so I was not around during his “growing up” years and we just grew apart some. So, tell Bonny Annie not to go away to college or move away after college :-)

Hmm… to have another babe when G is 11 would make David and I 39 and 49 respectively… I guess we’ll just have to continue with this “zoo” of little babies all at one time!! Some days I’d give my eye teeth, and a lot of money, for a teenage helper!!

Good job, A, for being such a great big sister.

It is handy having an older daughter when you have little ones. My oldest just turned 13 and she has been a great help, especially since our newest addition. My 20 month old will go to her automatically, if I’m not available.
Gotta love those little brother kisses!

Those pictures are just precious!!! I can definitely relate to the “easiest baby you’ll ever raise” part!! Our Jimmy…now 6 1/2…is being raised by myself (and dad, of course) and three of the most wonderful junior mommies you’d ever want to meet!! In fact, the 23 year old junior mommy will be taking him with her next fall to the homeschool coop where she is going to be teaching part-time!! I don’t even have to homeschool him full time!!

I think we’re both loving this so much we should each have another one! ;-)
