Secondly, my washing machine’s draining and spinning function is on the fritz right now.  This meant that I had to handwash and rinse Dirty Harry’s baseball uniform so that he could play in it tonight.  Have I ever mentioned how difficult it is to clean Dirty Harry’s uniform even with the ease of an automatic washing machine?  Oh, I have?  A bunch of times?  Oh…well…let me just tell you…it’s even more difficult in a sink.  By hand.  Any romantic notions I’ve ever had of living in a past time before automatic washing machines ended today.

Thirdly, can you tell me how in the world that this cute little chubby booger…

…somehow turned into this long, lean big booger?

I’m clueless about booger evolution, except that it takes ten years.

Happy birthday, Dirty Booger…er, I mean Harry!

Last year, on this date, my to-do list looked like this…

1. Go to the hospital and have a c-section.

This year, today, my to-do list looks like this…

1. Pack for our weekend trip to Big D’s parents’ house.
2. Make 4 dozen cookies forBonny Annie’s Shakespeare production’s reception tonight.
3. Slice two bags of apples for the same reception.
4. Make fruit dip for the same reception.
5. Show up and watch the actual production.
6. Don’t forget to pick up Dirty Harry from Tae Kwon Do class.
7. Don’t forget to bring the props for the play that Bonny Annie forgot.
8. Feed the two children that I’m responsible for today.
9. Get off the computer and start accomplishing some of the things on this list.

So, I really don’t have time to blog today, is what I’m trying to say.  But it’s Jack Henry’s birthday, for crying outloud….I had to commemorate that somehow today.

We actually had our family celebration last night, since as you can see, there was no time today.  We’re also celebrating with more family this weekend in NC.  I think it’s safe to say that the Cap’n has no clue what is going on, but I think he’s enjoying it all the same.

And you’ll just never believe what he said to me this morning…

“Mommy, the one thing I want most in the world for my birthday, is for you to win the Funniest Home School Blog Contest.  I know it’s a long shot since the voting ends in two days and you’re like 70 votes out of first place.  But that is what would me the happiest baby in the world.”

The Cap’n and I will be eternally grateful!

I am posting this much, much later than I intended because today has been cuh-razy!  But I couldn’t let this day pass without wishing, Big D, my partner in crime life, a very happy birthday!  How blessed I am to be married to him!  He is forty years old today, and he has no desire to buy a cherry red Mustang or quit his job to walk barefoot on a beach collecting seashells.  There’s no indication that he’s ready to trade me in for a newer model, and he doesn’t golf, hunt, fish or gamble.  The only semi-radical thing he’s mentioned lately is the possibility of a new tattoo.  He’s a keeper!  Even when he dresses like this….

I know about birthdays.  I’ve been around for a few of my peoples’, and I know that they mean CAKE.  So I was pretty excited when they started talking about MY birthday.  Finally, I get to taste CAKE.

They can’t fool me.  That is a cookie…not CAKE…and it’s on fire.

Do they know it’s on fire?  I do, and it scares me.

Although I’m disappointed, I will eat the cookie if they will just stop singing and put the fire out.

There, that’s better.  It’s not CAKE, but it’s still pretty yummy.

Someone, probably the Dad, remembered that I was a dog and put my cookie on the floor.

Now they say it’s time for presents.  I’m hoping that presents is another name for CAKE.

Uh, no.  Apparently it’s another word for torture.

I also got a toy, but I refused to give them the pleasure of seeing me play with it as long as they make me wear this stupid sweater.

…but they wouldn’t take it off.  They kept just laughing and taking pictures and feeding the cute baby more of my birthday cookies.
