FBF: A Glimpse at My 2009 Blogging Year

Welcome to Flashback Friday! (And, trust me, I know that at this point, Friday is almost over.  I have had to work on this post at three separate times today because the site where I upload my photos was having server problems…sorry!)

Today I’m going to employ a fun meme that I’ve used for the past couple of years.  I will post the first sentence from my first blog entry of every month accompanied by a photo from that month.  The photo doesn’t necessarily belong to that particular blog entry, and every sentence is a link back to the actual entry.  This year it gets really tricky because for the first few months of the year I was still blogging at my old place, www.homeschoolblogger.com/kellieann .

Okay, here we go…

January:

Hello people!  My name is Kellie Ann, and I used to post here quite a bit.

February:

Since Big D is sort of an amateur photographer with a growing collection of equipment, including backdrops and such, there was NO WAY I was going to lug Jack to some over-priced studio for a photo shoot.

March:

People, I’m resolving.

April:

(Oh, shoot.  Looks like I didn’t blog at all in April.  Here’s a picture from that month anyway…)

May:

I am a mess.

June:

Hello.

My name is Kellie, and I’m the Pirate Mom around here.

July:

Mommas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Play Baseball.

August:

  1. Vacation and blogging

Sorry, people, but I tried.  Even with a laptop in tow, I’m useless while vacationing obviously.

September:

Pluto was demoted from planet status a little over three years ago in August 2006.

October:

I’m glad Dirty Harry has a brother.

November:

We had a weird Halloween….but, I guess that’s sort of the point of this holiday, isn’t it?

December:

I know that technically Vikings were a subset of pirates, a sect of them, if you will.

Thanks for joining me on my blogging journey in 2009!  I hope you stick around with me for 2010!

Some Things That DO NOT Go Together
  1. Vacation and blogging

Sorry, people, but I tried.  Even with a laptop in tow, I’m useless while vacationing obviously.

      2.  Lack of sleep and blogging

      3.  Black and navy blue

It just doesn’t work, and I’m always baffled that people still try this combination.  No, no, no.  I have always been a little freaky about color combos, but if I were teaching a color-matching class, this would be lesson #1.

           4.  Me and Big D on Facebook using the live chat feature

             Can you say “Argghhhh”?

       5.  Clara and long car trips

I’m still trying to figure out how a little 15 pound dog can regurgitate 30 pounds of vomit…

       6.  Big D and jet lag

       7.  Me and Big D’s jet lag

       8.  Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton

       9.  Jack Henry and teething pain

    10.  Me and Jack Henry’s teething pain

    11.  Bacon and chocolate

I actually saw the two paired together in a candy bar at World Market while in Charleston.  Yuck.  The chocolate with sea salt, however, was to die for.  It’s like a chocolate covered pretzel without the pretzel.

And that’s all I have at the moment, because we’re still dealing with the jet lag and teething pain, and my brain power is down to about 45%.  I plan on getting back to my regular blog schedule this week.  Maybe.

So, what do you think doesn’t go together?

Why I Updated My Blog Theme

Oh boy….

I’m only five days into this Pirate Mom thing, and I have to go and change everything.  I’m sorry if you had already become attached to my teal background/orange paisley/notebook looking deal.  I had become attached already, and it saddened me to have to change.  But that darn theme just would not cooperate with me!

I’ve learned a lot in the past few days about hosting and developing your own site.  I didn’t know that all WordPress themes do not function the same.  And while the Notepad theme was great with graphics, it was not so great with plug-ins, widgets and other blog goodies that I wanted to utilize.

So, I found this one.  Big D says it looks more pirate-ish anyway.  So we’ll see how it looks and feels over the next few days.  In the mean time, don’t get too attached….
